The Patient, Disease & Drug Action 1 (PDDA1)
This stage 1 course covers pharmaceutical chemistry and biochemistry and introduces students to the synthesis, reaction properties, solubility, stability, compatibility and biological action of drug products. It provides the basis for further study in medicinal chemistry and drug design and also allows students to develop useful skills in IT and statistics.

The Patient, Disease & Drug Action 2 (PDDA2)
This stage 1 course provides an introduction to physiology and pharmacology. The course covers the major human physiological systems and goes on to look at the concept of treating physiological problems by pharmacological means.

The Patient, Disease & Drug Action 3 (PDDA3)
This stage 2 course aims to provide an introduction to the molecular, biological and immunological foundations of a variety of disorders, diseases and their appropriate treatment. The course also reviews how drugs are handled by the body and covers the concepts of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion.

The Patient, Disease & Drug Action 4 (PDDA4)
This stage 2 course covers pathophysiology and pharmacology of the cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal and endocrine systems.

The Patient, Disease & Drug Action 5 (PDDA5)
This stage 3 course covers infectious diseases, antimicrobial agents and immunopharmacology.

The Patient, Disease & Drug Action 6 (PDDA6)
This stage 3 course covers neuroscience, neurological disorders and occular pharmacology. This includes an in depth look at CNS disorders, neuro degenerative disease and the complex relationship between the perception of pain, analgesia, anaesthesia and psychotropic agents.

Research Methods
This stage 3 course includes an in depth review of structured literature searches, critical appraisal, information managemnt, data analysis, research ethics and research governannce within the NHS.
