| How long does a course last?
The courses are designed to give you 60 hours of learning input over 12 weeks.
You will work hard for a short period. Experience has shown that this is the best period of time for working with distance learning materials.
Courses will be updated each time they are run, so you can be sure that the material is current and appropriate for the skills you need to acquire.
Where do I study?
Moodle is designed for you to study anywhere that is convenient to you. This could be at home, at work or in one of the learning centres becoming available around the country. You are encouraged to attend the University for one day to meet your course tutor and fellow students and gain some familiarity with the software that you will be using. But, most of the work you will do is based on Moodle.
The computer you use to access Moodle must be internet enabled and have access to a printer.
How much will it cost?
The fee for each module is £750. There is a reduced fee of £650.00 for members of Institute of Biomedical Science and for staff who work for a Trust which is part of the Biomed Online Learning Consortium (please contact the programme administrator on 020 8331 9978 for details). For overseas students the fee for each module is £900.
Course fees are set at a level that enables the Biomed Online Learning consortium to maintain the existing modules and develop further modules as required.
Cancellation Policy
Please read the cancellation policy carefully.
How will the courses be assessed?
The assessment procedure is different for each course.
The authors have designed the assessments to be appropriate for the course materials. They include quizzes, essays and project work. Your course tutor will be guiding you through them.
Are courses recognised for CPD?
Each of the Biomed Online Learning modules has been validated by the University of Greenwich for 30 credits at Master's level.
Each of the modules has gained accreditation from the IBMS. Each module is worth 100 credits in the Vocational category, plus an additional 25 credits in the Personal category when supported by a reflective learning log. The completion of 2 modules, each accompanied by a reflective learning log, will be recognised by the awarding of a full CPD diploma.
To claim CPD points, successful students should send to the IBMS a photocopy of the University documentation that notes their achievement, plus a photocopy of the relevant section of their CPD portfolio.
