On completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Design and manage online communication and collaboration activities.
  • Design web pages that:
    • comply with the W3C accessibility standards, and
    • motivate students to interact with curriculum material.

    • supplementary training required for registration for those holding non-approved degrees, and
    • academic accreditation towards Masters level qualifications.

Course Orientation

The course comprises two components:

  • Face-to-face practical training
    • an intensive face-to-face session on WebCT
    • a follow-up session to consolidate and pick up any further aspects of electronic publishing that you might need.
  • On-line training
    • 6 Modules with Activities and Assignments on the following topics:
    1. Module 1: Welcome
    2. Module 2: Communicating and Collaborating
    3. Module 3: Creating and Designing Web Pages
    4. Module 4: Designing an Online Course
    5. Module 5: Resources
    6. Module 6: Putting it all Together

The way the online component works is by structured interaction between

  • your colleagues who are also developing Biomed Online Training Modules,
  • a Course Facilitator and
  • my Teaching Assistant

The interactions are centered on the Activities and Assignments that have been designed specifically to get you planning and developing your own online course.
